Strain

By default only PI, technician and scientist have the authority to add Strains.

Strain in E-MouseLab is the background strain of mouse, such as C57BL/6J and 129svj. However, it is not restricted to the genetic background and is totally free for users to customize. For example, you can use the strain field to mark the generation by naming the strain "F1" or "G2". The short name of the strain will be shown in mouse records and census.

You can assign multiple stains to a mouse record, if the mouse is of mixed background.

If a mouse has genotype "wild type", its strain will be shown on census instead of genotype.
